from mincers to monkey feet

Time to give the KSO Treks a test flight. Parked at Peat Cott for a pad down the motorway to Nun's Cross. So far, so good. Much more snug than the aquashoes with less ground 'feel' through the knobbly soles but still pleasant to run in. Off up to Eylesbarrow and the grip was pretty good on the wet grass and through the peaty boggy bits. The real test was the descent to the Narrator Brook: on my last venture this way in the mincers I came a cropper a couple of times and was lucky to get away with minor dings. No such probs this time and I soon felt confident enough to go with the flow. Then it was up to Combeshead Tor then to Down Tor where this shot was taken.
Then it was back to the Down Tor stone row, back to Nun's Cross and on to Peat Cott.
The monkey feet should do very nicely in place of the mincers for those knobbly sweary sections, but for the rest of the time you can't beat bare feet.

  1. I've been running in Flow Treks since last October. They've served me pretty well on stony fell runs, but you still need to toughen the feet up for the downhill. I plan to do some more truly barefoot stuff myself as a way to do this....

  2. I think they're a resonable compromise. I've been trying aqua shoes from Aldi over the last couple of weeks(£3) not as stable as the VFFs but cheep ;-)

  6. don't you love the random word generator? Last post came up with 'fercohol' - now how meaning of liff can you get..? Booze for rodents? What one reaches for when slaughtered..? The feeling of oozey mud between the toes that turns out not to be mud...
