Following breathless reports of apocalyptic levels of snowfall I thought I'd better get out and see what all the fuss was about. Driving over to Meldon there was the odd glimpse of a dusting on the tops although the fuzzy visibility made it hard to tell.
Parking up we set off up the side of Longstone Hill and on up towards Yes Tor. The patchy snow made a bit more of an effort above the death zone (500m on Dartmoor) and had gathered itself into half-decent drifts on Yes Tor and High Willhays.
Not another soul up here as we left paw and Walsh tracks snaking down towards Black Tor and powered though the slush and mud back to the car.
Sounds like a nice run, hope your feet were ok in walshes
ReplyDeleteThey're not too bad but getting worn - may be a trip to the fell-shoe shop soon.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you both survived the death zone:)
ReplyDeleteIt was touch and go to be honest. You don't conquer High Willhays, you are just lucky enough to get up and back down alive......
ReplyDeleteLoving that picture of Spook cutting a path through the snow. We need some up here!!
ReplyDeleteHe was fancying himself as a snowplough.
ReplyDeleteAnother Rush fan eh! I wouldn't mind being able to play like Alex Lifeson. Great shot of Snowplough Spook!
ReplyDeleteYeah - always had a soft spot for them. Being a drummer I was a Neil Peart fan

ReplyDeleteMakes a nice change to get out running in snowy landscapes - so long as it doesn't hang around too long! Your dog seemed to be enjoying it.
