Half term has put the brakes on long runs so it was out for a swift out and back to get a couple of shots for an article I'm writing on Dartmoor place names. (Thanks to you place-name fans for the inspiration!)
Starting from Peat Cott, weaving between the platoons of squaddies trooping down the motorway to Nun's Cross we cut up to Little Fox Tor before visiting its big brother. Dropping into Sunshine Valley it was time for the pull up the Fox Tor Farm newtake to Mount Misery.
I couldn't resist a quick sprint out and back to the Ter Hill crosses before re-tracing my route to Mount Misery and on to Childe's Tomb (supposedly the resting place of a Saxon lord who froze to death out on the moor) How he managed that is anyone's guess - it rarely gets below hot and sweaty when I'm out running on it.
Following the Devonport Leat it was a sprint up the motorway and coming close to a total wipe-out in front of a huge audience of squaddies.
Can feel a barefoot session brewing.......
