Been back into 20 mile runs for a few weeks now and they're feeling much easier so I'm looking to stretch them out over the next few weeks. So far, nothing's dropped off.
Cracking run today from Princetown up to Flat Tor via Beardown Tors, Higher White Tor and Wildbanks Hill. The bog-fest from Flat to Lynch Tor didn't seem as bad this time - possibly because of the lack of rain. I've not seen the moor this dry for ages. Spotted a couple of walkers in Cowflop Bottom - it's unusual to see anybody out here. I love this bit of the moor and if I had my arm twisted painfully but expertly up my back with a demand to name a remote part of the moor, this would be it. No tracks, no paths no roads and nobody else here.
Closer to Lynch Tor are the remains of buildings associated with peat cutting. This area, along with most of Dartmoor, has seen a good deal of human activity over the centuries. It's probably as quiet now as it has been for 4000 years. Right in the middle of the Dartmoor wilderness - a brick wall.
